The Rev. Dr. James L Guthrie, Jr.
Interim Rector
The Rev. Dr. James L. Guthrie, Jr. serves as the Interim Rector of St. Andrew's Anglican Church. Dr. Guthrie has been privileged to serve the people of St. Andrew's on two different occasions, both in an Interim/Long term supply role. He first served St. Andrews from January through October 2014. In June, 2023, upon the retirement of the Rev. John Commis, reached out to Dr. Guthrie and once again asked him to serve as their interim rector. Dr. Guthrie is a native of Valdosta, Georgia. He did undergraduate work at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia; earned his Master's of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia and his Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. His D.Min thesis was title Rediscovering our Anglican Heritage: Reclaiming the Charisms of the Holy Spirit in Worship Contexts. He is a published author, an accomplished musician and has also served as a hospice chaplain as well as a funeral director/embalmer with several area funeral homes. He currently lives in Valdosta, Georgia with his wife Linda, a special education teacher
